| Hercules is a male boa imperator who’s age is unknown but suspected to be approx 6 years old. There are 8 subspecies of boa found throughout Central and South America. The two most common being boa constrictor constrictor (BCC) and boa constrictor imperator (BCI). Boas are medium/large typically heavy bodied snakes but despite their size are good climbers and often found in semi arboreal conditions. Depending on the subspecies boas can vary anything from 5’ (150cm) up to 12’ (360cm) and Hercules is a good size at just about 7ft and 9 1/2 kgs in weight- considerably larger than Kuzco who is the same species. BCI’s are often known as common boas or central American boa’s due to their range in the wild being central America and west of the south American Andes. They are also considered to be the most docile of the subspecies and the most commonly kept. | |||
